Tweeting, Texting and Facebook

Let’s face it, social media is here to stay. Tweeting, texting and Facebook have become primary means for communication with our changing society.

However, what if your posts had legal or financial consequences? Could you or a family member be sued for an online post?

While not physically injuring someone, Personal Injury can cause harm. Personal Injury is slander and libel, which includes oral, written or electronic publication of material that damages a person or organization’s goods, products or services or violates a person’s right to privacy.

The standard homeowner or renter’s policy provides liability coverage for Bodily Injury, but NOT Personal Injury. If you tweet or text frequently, adding the Personal Injury endorsement to your policy could prove to be a valuable move.
